The Three Wise Men are an important part of the Christmas celebration. These three wise men brought gifts to baby Jesus and their story is told in Matthew 2:11-12 as they left home after seeing His star!

Children can learn more about this tradition in a fun way while sharing a colorful time together. A coloring book with pictures from it makes them even happier.

The names of the Magi are Caspar (also known as Jaspar or Gaspar); Balthazar (Balthazar) and Melchior. They are known to have come from the East and are believed to have come from India, Arabia and Persia. When they visited the Christ Child, they brought golden gifts symbolizing Christ's kingship; Frankincense symbolic of Christ who is God and myrrh symbolic of death.

January 6th, also known as the twelfth night, is the feast of the Three Kings. Most of us know this festival as the Epiphany. Do you remember the song The Twelve Days of Christmas? The twelve days actually begin after the birth of the Christ Child and end on January 6th. In some places, gifts are exchanged on the feast of the Three Kings. In the Deep South, Twelfth Night marks the start of Mardi Gras season. On January 6th there is Feast of the Three Kings. A green, gold and purple plaited bread known as a king cake is served. A tiny plastic "Baby Jesus" is hidden in one of the pieces. Whoever finds the baby Jesus becomes the “king of the day” and is supposed to throw the next Epiphany party the following year.
